RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Acting as the governing body of San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, adopt a Resolution declaring the results for the contest under the jurisdiction of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District that appeared on the ballot in the 2024 Presidential Primary Election.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of -Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Appropriation for the staffing required to present the Certified Election Results is included in the Registrar of Voters (ROV) 2023-24 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
ROV conducted the 2024 Presidential Primary Election held on March 5, 2024, in compliance with the California Elections and Government Codes. Eligible voters in this election voted on Measure W, labeled Repeal the Special Tax for San Bernardino County Fire Protection District Service Zone FP-5.

Ballots were cast by 94,055 voters on Measure W in the election, which equated to a 26.76 percent turnout of eligible registered voters in the election.

California Elections Code section 15400 provides that the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District Board of Directors, as a governing body, shall declare the results of each measure election under its jurisdiction.
