Approve Encompass Agreement with Roche Diagnostic Corporation for blood glucose testing software, equipment, services, reagents, and supplies, in an amount not to exceed $686,215 for the contract term of April 23, 2024 through April 22, 2029.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $686,215 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2023-24 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Encompass Agreement (Agreement) with Roche Diagnostic Corporation (Roche) will allow ARMC to provide a simple testing system for its patients that monitors the blood glucose level at the bedside. This testing is necessary for ARMC clinicians to assess and treat patients in a timely manner.

ARMC first acquired Roche Accuchek Inform II (Accuchek) testing equipment in 2013. The Accuchek equipment has provided excellent quality and reliability and is user friendly with an easy to operate design. It uses a quick fill reagent test strip that requires a very small blood sample and provides results in five seconds.
