FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $350,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s (ARMC) 2024-25 budget and will be included in the 2025-26 recommended budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Amendment No. 2 to Agreement No. 20-672 with Stryker Sales, LLC (Stryker) will allow for the continued purchase of skull and face implants (craniomaxillofacial implants) for certain surgical patients at ARMC. ARMC conducts elective and non-elective surgeries and the demand for procedures that require craniomaxillofacial implants has substantially increased due to the change in ARMC’s designation from Level II to a Level I Trauma Center.
On August 25, 2020 (Item No. 7), as the result of solicitation No. MCR16-19, the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Agreement No. 20-672 with Stryker for craniomaxillofacial implants for surgical patients, in the amount not to exceed $500,000 for the period of August 25, 2020 through August 24, 2022.
On August 23, 2022 (Item No. 7), the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 20-672 to update contract language, increase the not-to-exceed contract amount by $750,000 from $500,000 to an amount not-to-exceed $1,250,000, and to extend the term by three years for a total term of August 25, 2020 through August 24, 2025.
ARMC recommends approval of the Amendment No.2 with Stryker, to provide for the safety, health and social services needs of County residents by allowing ARMC to maintain access to specialty products for craniomaxillofacial surgeries for patients at ARMC for more efficient patient care and safety.
