Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 23-501 with Milestone Computer Technology to purchase Aruba Pensando NSX Firewall, increasing the contract amount by $291,024 from $6,007,346 to $6,298,370, with no change to the contract term of June 13, 2023, through June 12, 2028.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $291,024 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2024-25 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Amendment No. 1 (Amendment) to Agreement No. 23-501 (Agreement) with Milestone Computer Technology (Milestone) will allow ARMC’s Information Management Department to purchase Aruba Pensado NSX Firewall (Aruba Firewall) hardware to provide a more secure server environment to protect patient and hospital data. The Aruba Firewall will provide greater cybersecurity protection for our server environments by giving ARMC Information Management Department authorized access to the network level for the data coming in and out of our server operations environment. This increased security visibility will also enable the Information Management Department to protect against future threats to the hospital’s network.
On June 13, 2023 (Item No. 14), as the result of solicitation No. ARMC123-ARMC-4769, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement 23-501 with Milestone for the replacement of server hardware with a new server environment, hardware, services, support and five-year warranty, in the amount of $6,007,346 for the five-year period of June 13, 2023, through June 12, 2028.
ARMC recommends the approval of the Amendment with Milestone to provide for the safety, health and social service needs of County residents by protecting patient and hospital data.
