BACKGROUND INFORMATION

CSA 70 SL - 1 Countywide, established by the Board of Supervisors (Board) on December 27, 1965, annually receives property tax revenues to fund the costs of operating and maintaining approximately 3,500 streetlights in various unincorporated communities throughout the county. Residents of the Rialto area approached the Department of Public Works - Special Districts (Department) and requested that streetlights be added to the existing streetlight network within CSA 70 SL - 1 Countywide. The Department evaluated the request and determined there was a need for additional streetlights. The Project involves installing three new standalone Marblelite Streetlights along Easton Street from Cactus Avenue to North Lilac Avenue, in Rialto. These new pole-mounted LED streetlights are designed to significantly enhance visibility along this stretch of Easton Street, contributing to improved safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike.

Approval of this item will allow the Department to proceed with the Project and provide the budget authority to incur one-time Project costs.

PROCUREMENT

The Project will be publicly advertised in accordance with the formal bidding procedures established by the County, scheduled for Spring 2025 in combination with the Blake Street Phase 2 project with Transportation Division of the Department. Upon the conclusion of the procurement process, the Department will return to the Board as necessary with a recommendation for the construction contract award to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
