BACKGROUND INFORMATION
State law requires all public agencies to adopt a Conflict of Interest (COI) code. The COI code of each agency identifies those positions that are required to disclose financial interests annually on the Form 700. Education Code section 47604.1 requires charter schools to adopt a COI code and comply with the same conflict of interest rules as school districts and other public agencies. The Board of Supervisors is the code reviewing body for charter schools located entirely within the geographical jurisdiction of the County.
California Government Code Section 87303 states that no COI code shall be effective until it has been approved by the code reviewing body. Each agency shall submit a proposed COI code to the code reviewing body by the deadline established by the code reviewing body. The new COI code for Woodward Leadership Academy, Inc., is being submitted for approval pursuant to these statutory requirements.
