BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Amendment will amend the Lease for approximately 1.5 acres of land for the Sheriff, by renewing the term by five additional years, exercising one of the two existing five-year options to extend the term, for an extended contract period of June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2030, following a permitted holdover period of June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025.  Additionally, this Amendment adds two five-year options to extend the term of the lease due to the ongoing need for housing deputies assigned to the Baker area.

On May 14, 1979, the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved the Lease, for $7,500, with two five-year options to extend for a 3-acre site, on which two mobile homes were installed by the County to be used by the Sheriff for deputy housing in the Baker area.  The original term was from June 1, 1979, through May 31, 1984.  In the 45 years since the Lease was originally approved, the Board has approved nine amendments to reduce the acreage to 1.5 acres, extend the term through May 31, 2024, and add additional five-year options to renew the term.

The Sheriff requested the RESD to extend the term of the Lease by exercising a five-year option to renew.  This Amendment renews the term for five years through May 31, 2030, adjusts the rent schedule, and adds two five-year options to extend the term.  All other terms of the Lease will remain the same.
