Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Improve ARMC County Hospital Operations.
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The contract increase of $96,195 will be funded by the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Pneumatic Tube System (PTS) Project (Project) (WBSE 10.10.0742) budget of $874,810. This project is funded by ARMC Enterprise Funds as part of the 2024-25 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget, as approved by the Board of Supervisors on June 11, 2024 (Item No. 110).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of this item includes replacing broken or worn sound-dampening devices at each tube station, replacing broken or missing trim frames, and replacing the existing computer tower.
On May 24, 2022, (Item No. 69), the Board authorized the Project and Facilities Management Department (PFMD) to award the Project to Translogic Corporation, dba Swisslog Healthcare Solutions (Swisslog Healthcare). The existing PTS was manufactured by Swisslog Healthcare. The repairs and upgrades can only be sourced from Swisslog Healthcare because they are proprietary.
The unanticipated additional cost is attributable to the system’s wear and tear. The broken components cannot be repaired and must be replaced, which was not accounted for in the original bid documents. No additional procurement activities are required.
Public Contract Code section 20136 requires two thirds of the Board to approve any change to a Board approved contract for the erection, construction, alteration, or repair of any public building or other structure.
This project is consistent with the County Administrative Office (CAO) approved CIP Request
No. 19-064.
PROCUREMENT
Not applicable.
