FINANCIAL IMPACT

The proposed ordinance is non-financial in nature, and will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The proposed ordinance will update the San Bernardino County Code (County Code) to adjust the boundaries of the Havasu Palms Marina “no wake zone.” New development on the California shoreline at Havasu Palms is expected to add a total of 96 docks along the shoreline. There is also a marina and several swimming spots on shore in this area. The expansion of the “no wake zone” in this area will limit the speed of vessels to five miles per hour in this area to enhance public safety. The change in ordinance will not have an impact on navigation within Lake Havasu.
