BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Risk Management (Department) administers the County’s self-insured public liability, workers’ compensation, property conservation, safety, and risk reduction programs. All programs are paid for by self-insurance funds, funded by County departments and Board-Governed Special Districts' payment of internal insurance rates.

Over the past three years, the Risk Management team has grown significantly with several new hires. This Project aims to renovate the Department’s current workspace to support this expansion, optimize space utilization, and accommodate future growth. Importantly, the renovation plan is designed to avoid disrupting ongoing services during the process.

The CIP includes adding 11 offices and 19 additional cubicles, upgrading the break room flooring, cabinets, and countertops, and improving lighting, ventilation, and airflow as needed. Technical infrastructure will also be enhanced to support the new office and cubicle configurations. The scope may include painting, wall modifications, and environmental testing of materials not previously surveyed for hazardous materials. Renovations will take place throughout the existing floor workspace within the Risk Management suite.

Approval of the recommended actions will allow Risk Management to proceed with CIP Project No. 26-134. The estimated project completion date is December 2026.

PROCUREMENT

The selection of the contractors for this CIP project will be done in accordance with the County’s procurement policies and procedures.
