FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as this Affiliation Agreement with Western Governors University (WGU) is non-financial in nature.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Affiliation Agreement with WGU will allow students to enroll in their Nursing, Health Information Management, Master’s in Business Administration in Healthcare Management, and Master’s in Leadership and Management programs to obtain onsite training at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC).

A key component of ARMC’s mission is to provide education to students in a variety of disciplines. ARMC has a number of agreements with universities, colleges, community colleges, and technical and trade schools to provide onsite clinical training for students. This training is necessary for students to obtain their degrees, licenses and/or certifications.

ARMC recommends approval of this Affiliation Agreement to provide clinical training and experience to WGU students, which will result in the students gaining vital skills needed to develop a competent workforce and attract future healthcare providers to the County.
