RECOMMENDATION(S)

Recommendation

Adopt Ordinance to repeal and reenact Division 6 of Title 4 of the San Bernardino Code relating to Solid Waste Handling Franchises to add and update definitions, update references to defined terms throughout the Code section, and add commercial solid waste and organic waste recycling programs, which was introduced on April 21, 2020, Item No. 91.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) is financed by fee revenue.  SWMD establishes fees that are charged to the public and other agencies for utilization of the County’s Waste Disposal System. This item will have minimal impact on revenue for the SWMD 2019-20 budget.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The ordinance relating to solid waste handling franchises, adding and updating definitions, updating references to defined terms throughout the Code section, and adding commercial solid waste and organic waste recycling programs was introduced on April 21, 2020, Item No. 91. The item before the Board of Supervisors today will adopt the ordinance on the consent calendar.
