FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of Amendment No. 9 (Amendment) to Revenue Agreement No. 18-397 (Agreement) will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as this is a revenue contract. The City of Adelanto (City) is compensating San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCFPD) for the cost of providing services in accordance with the terms of the Agreement. This Amendment will increase the annual compensation to SBCFPD by $458,208 for total revenue of $6,686,139 for 2025-26. Sufficient revenue and appropriation for this Agreement are included in SBCFPD’s 2025-26 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On June 26, 2018 (Item No. 79), the Board of Directors (Board) approved the Agreement allowing SBCFPD to provide fire protection and emergency medical services to the City for the initial year in the amount of $4,470,155. The compensation amount for providing services is adjusted annually in accordance with Section 3.B. of the Agreement. The term of the Agreement is for 10 years, beginning July 1, 2018, and ending June 30, 2028.
SBCFPD has been providing services to the City since 1999. To date, the Agreement has been amended eight times. Approval of the Amendment will increase the Agreement’s annual compensation amount by $458,208, from $6,227,931 to $6,686,139, for SBCFPD’s additional costs of providing service to the City, with no change to the term of July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2028. Adjustments are based on various factors, including but not limited to increased salary and benefit expenses resulting from negotiated Memoranda of Understanding with the labor unions.
All other terms of the Agreement shall remain the same.
