BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Pursuant to San Bernardino County Code 12.4509, all Municipal Advisory Councils (MACs) and Advisory Committees (ACs) automatically dissolve upon the end of each term of the County Supervisor who represents the Supervisorial district in which the respective MAC or AC is located. The terms of all sitting MAC and AC members will also expire as of that date.

On January 6, 2025, the term for the County Supervisors elected from the First, Third, and Fifth Supervisorial Districts will end, and because all three County Supervisors were reelected, they will begin new terms.  At the end of a County Supervisor’s term, all MACs and ACs established by each County Supervisor for their specific district dissolved, and Board of Supervisors (Board) action is required to re-establish a MAC or AC.  Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. was re-elected to serve another term as the Fifth District Supervisor and the recommended Resolution will create a new Bloomington MAC under Supervisor Baca’s new term.

Additionally, this item will direct the Clerk of the Board to post a notice of vacancy, pursuant to the Maddy Act (Government Code Section 54970 et seq.), to solicit applications for the council positions to be appointed by the Board. The Fifth District Bloomington MAC will consist of five members and one alternate member.
