FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as this non-financial Affiliation Agreement (Agreement) between Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) and Chamberlain University (Chamberlain) is non-financial in nature.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
A key component of ARMC’s mission is to provide education to students in a variety of disciplines. ARMC has a number of agreements with universities and colleges, junior colleges, and technical and trade schools to provide on-site clinical training for students. This clinical training is necessary for students to obtain their degrees, licenses, and/or certifications.
The Agreement with Chamberlain will enable nursing students to obtain in-person clinical training at ARMC. The volume and patient mix at ARMC will provide a comprehensive educational opportunity to the students from Chamberlain. The clinical training will ensure students receive specialty clinical experience, and gain vital skills needed in developing a competent workforce.
The Agreement provides for the safety, health, and social service needs of County residents by ensuring the delivery of specialized medical care to ARMC patients, as well as increasing the future pool of healthcare specialists.
ARMC recommends approval of this new Agreement with Chamberlain to provide the safety, health and social service needs of County residents by allowing students enrolled in Chamberlain’s programs to obtain clinical training at ARMC. Providing a clinical site to these students for training will provide a pool of future candidates to hire into the County workforce.
