Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the additional not-to-exceed amount of $1,500,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2022-23 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of this amendment will allow ARMC to continue to purchase neurological grafts, disposable pressure monitoring catheters, and related supplies utilized by ARMC’s Operative Services for surgical procedures and post-surgery care. Neurological procedures are utilized in
urgent and emergency trauma situations, as well as elective spinal and neurological cases to fix
identified issues.
On December 17, 2019 (Item No. 4), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Multiple Product Purchase Agreement No. 19-836 (Agreement) with Integra LifeSciences Sales, LLC (Integra) in an amount not to exceed $1,350,000 for the purchase of neurological supplies and equipment accessories used by ARMC’s Operative Services Department and Sterile Processing Department, for the period of December 17, 2019 to December 16, 2022 with the option to renew for a maximum of two additional one-year periods. Section 7 of the Agreement provides that the option to renew is by written agreement of the parties, and may include a renegotiation of the prices of the products.
On December 15, 2020 (Item No. 11), the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Integra to add additional neurological supplies and equipment accessories available for purchase at pre-determined prices by ARMC, with no changes to the not to exceed amount of $1,350,000, and no changes to the contract period of December 17, 2019 through December 16, 2022, with the option to renew for a maximum of two additional one-year periods.
ARMC recommends approval of this amendment as it will allow ARMC to continue to perform procedures in the case of patients with traumatic brain injuries. The new prices of the products shall apply to the extended term, effective December 17, 2022.
PROCUREMENT
Purchasing continues to support this non-competitive procurement based on equipment compatibility. ARMC owns Integra neurological monitoring equipment, and the equipment is only compatible with these products.
