BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Pursuant to San Bernardino County Code 12.4509, all Municipal Advisory Councils (MACs) and Advisory Committees (ACs) automatically dissolve upon the end of each term of the County Supervisor who represents the Supervisorial District in which the respective MAC or AC is located. The terms of all sitting MAC and AC members will also expire as of that date.
On January 6, 2025, at the end of the First District Supervisor’s term, all MACs and ACs established by the Supervisor for the First District dissolved, and Board of Supervisors (Board) action is required to re-establish the MACs. Supervisor Col. Paul Cook (Ret.) (Supervisor) was re-elected to serve another term as the First District Supervisor and the recommended Resolutions will create the MACs identified in Recommendation No. 1 under the Supervisor’s new term.
Additionally, this item will direct the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors to post a notice of vacancy, pursuant to the Maddy Act (Government Code Section 54970 et seq.), to solicit applications for the MAC positions to be appointed by the Board. The First District’s MACs will consist of the number of members appointed by the Board as identified in Recommendation No. 2 above.
