Body

COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Ensure Development of a Well-Planned, Balanced, and Sustainable County.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this employment contract (Contract) will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The total value of the one-year compensation package for the Historic Site Manager agreement is $46,210.  This is based on a cash stipend ($13,000), use of the residence (valued at $28,210) and utilities (valued at $5,000). Sufficient appropriation and revenue for this Contract are included in the County Museum’s (Museum) 2024-25 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Museum is tasked with developing visitors’ appreciation of the county’s diverse regional identity and administers five museum branch sites throughout the county to achieve its mission. The Agua Mansa Pioneer Cemetery (Agua Mansa) in Colton is currently operated as a historic branch site of the Museum. The cemetery is a historic burial ground associated with the Agua Mansa and La Placita communities, the first non-native settlements in the region.

Approval of this Contract will authorize the employment of a resident Historic Site Manager, Daniel Evans, for Agua Mansa for the period of August 6, 2024 through August 5, 2025. This Contract will supersede Contract No. 24-19, previously approved by the Board of Supervisors on January 9, 2024 (Item No. 27). The Historic Site Manager resides on-site and performs a variety of tasks, including facilitating public access, tours, maintenance and repairs preserving the historic and aesthetic integrity of the site, and security. Contract compensation is based on a cash stipend and valuation for use of residence and utilities.

This item updates pay elements to correspond with other site manager services and aligns with the County and Chief Executive Officer goal to ensure development of a well-planned, balanced, and sustainable county by recognizing the historic sites as treasured amenities that provide a glimpse of our past heritage that can be shared with patrons.
