Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of Amendment No. 1 (Amendment) to Contract No. 22-271 (Contract) will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Regional Parks 2024-25 budget and will be included in the 2025-26 recommended budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On April 12, 2022 (Item No. 42), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved the Contract with Mariposa Landscapes, Inc. for mowing, tree trimming and rodent control services for Glen Helen Regional Park, Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, Mojave Narrows Regional Park, Prado Regional Park, and Yucaipa Regional Park. The term of the contract was effective from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2025, and provided that the term may be extended for two additional one-year periods. The recommended Amendment will extend the term of the Contract for an additional one-year period to May 31, 2026, at a cost of $590,868.01, which will increase the total contract from $1,674,201.03 to $2,265,069.04.
The Regional Parks Department has contracted for these services since 2005, and the proposed Amendment continues this practice. This Amendment aligns with the County and Chief Executive Officer goal and objective of operating in a fiscally-responsible and business-like manner by contracting out these services to allow park staff to focus on park maintenance, improving customer service, and ensuring the highest quality in experience for our park patrons.
