Recommendation
Adopt Resolution establishing revised public service hours for the Newton T. Bass Apple Valley Branch Library, located at 14901 Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley, California, to include Friday service hours from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. effective Monday, December 30, 2024.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Operational costs have been included in the County Library’s 2024-25 budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The San Bernardino County opened the Newton T. Bass Apple Valley Branch Library, at 14901 Dale Evans Parkway in the Town of Apple Valley, on September 20, 2002, and established public service hours as Monday through Wednesday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed on Friday and Sunday. Since 2002, the need for library programs and services has increased. In an effort to expand the ability to provide library services to the Apple Valley community, the County Library recommends the addition of public service hours on Friday’s from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
County Code Section 11.0401 requires that changes in County office hours be approved by Board of Supervisors by resolution.
