FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the agreement with Central Sterilization Solutions LLC (CSS) is non-financial in nature.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of the Non-Financial Affiliation Agreement (Agreement) with CSS will enable CSS’s sterile processing technician students to obtain onsite clinical experience at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC).
This clinical training is necessary for the sterile processing technician students to obtain their degrees, licenses, and/or certifications. The Agreement with CSS ensures the students receive required and vital hands-on training experience. By offering clinical training to the sterile processing technician students from CSS, ARMC will help the sterile processing technician students to achieve their acute care training and develop qualified candidates able to serve patients and residents of San Bernardino County.
A key component of the ARMC mission is to provide education to students in a variety of
disciplines. ARMC has a number of agreements with universities and colleges, junior colleges,
and technical and trade schools to provide onsite clinical training for students. ARMC is committed to the advancement of healthcare professions to ensure a sufficient supply of professionals to serve the residents in the Inland Empire and San Bernardino region.
By providing the training to the CSS sterile processing technician students, ARMC will be able to continue providing for the safety, health and social services needs of County residents. Furthermore, the partnership between ARMC and CSS demonstrates the collaboration and collective effort of pursuing county goals and objectives by working with other facilities and agencies.
ARMC recommends approval of the Agreement to provide for the safety, health and social service needs of County residents by providing clinical experience to sterile processing technician students from CSS to complete the required supervised rotation to become certified sterile processing technicians.
