Recommendation
1. Direct the Chief Executive Officer to research state funding and resources received by the County and report back to the Board of Supervisors.
2. Assign the Fourth District Supervisor as a liaison to external stakeholders on the County’s equitable share of state funding.

This item is non-financial in nature and as such, will not require the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On November 8, 2022, County voters approved advisory Measure EE which asked voters if they want County elected officials to study and advocate for all options to obtain the County’s fair share of state funding.
Approval of the recommendations will direct the Chief Executive Officer to research the amount of state funding received by the County, as compared to other similar-sized counties throughout the state. The analysis will include a review of the methodology used to determine the amount of funding allocated, to establish if the County is receiving an equitable share of resources. The Fourth District Supervisor will solicit input from external stakeholders on areas where the County can further advocate for additional resources and increase state funding.
