Purchase of Unbudgeted Fixed Asset - Emergency Generator for County Service Area 70 Countywide

End

RECOMMENDATION(S)

Recommendation

Acting as the governing body of County Service Area 70 Countywide, approve the purchase of an emergency generator, as an unbudgeted fixed asset, in the amount not-to-exceed $186,000.

(Presenter: Noel Castillo, Director, 387-7906)

Body

COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Improve County Government Operations.

Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).  County Service Area 70 Special Districts Countywide (District) will fund the cost of the emergency generator in the amount of $186,000 using available funds resulting from realized costs savings associated with the purchase of two emergency generators included in the 2025-26 budget. Sufficient appropriation and expenditure authority are available to support this unbudgeted fixed asset purchase.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The District provides routine maintenance and emergency response services to various water and sanitation districts during power outages throughout the County.  The District has five towable emergency generators in need of replacement because they do not meet current California Air Resources Board (CARB) requirements. Two replacement emergency generators have been ordered, and approval of this item will allow the District to purchase a third emergency generator, thereby allowing the District to quickly serve remote areas of the County in a timely manner.

PROCUREMENT

The subject generator will be procured in accordance with the procedures established by County Policy 11-04 (Procurement of Goods, Supplies, Equipment and Services).
