FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The Subrecipient Eligibility Form to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Tuberculosis (TB) Control Branch is required prior to receiving funding in the amount of $395,129 to support TB prevention and control activities and does not require a local match. The Department of Public Health (DPH) will be a subrecipient of CDPH’s federal funding for the Project Grants and Cooperative Agreements for Tuberculosis Control Programs award.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
CDPH has received funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for Tuberculosis Control Programs to be allocated to local health jurisdictions to continue support of TB prevention and control activities. To be eligible to receive annual funding from CPDH, local public health departments must initially submit a Subrecipient Eligibility Form acknowledging compliance with the Notice of Award and General Terms and Conditions of the federal Project Grants and Cooperative Agreements for Tuberculosis Control Programs award.
DPH has received TB funding since 1948, which is utilized to maintain TB control standards, investigate reported and suspected cases of TB, provide direct observed therapy, enhance treatment compliance, offer alternative housing for persons with infectious TB to increase successful follow-up treatment, complete state reporting requirements, and use less restrictive alternatives to decrease the need for detention of TB patients.
On January 14, 2022, DPH received the Subrecipient Eligibility Form required by CDPH in order to receive TB funding in the amount of $395,129 to support TB prevention and control activities, for an anticipated grant period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The recommended action will approve the required Subrecipient Eligibility Form and allow DPH to submit the executed form in order to receive this funding. Upon receipt of CDPH’s State Agreement, DPH will return to the Board of Supervisors for approval and acceptance of the award.
