BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On February 21, 2019, the Chief Executive Officer, while serving as the Director of Emergency Services, proclaimed the existence of a local emergency from the February 13-14, 2019 storm event affecting several communities in San Bernardino County. This action, which was ratified by the Board of Supervisors (Board) on February 26, 2019 (Item No. 1) in accordance with Government Code section 8630(b), was in response to a storm that produced dangerous flash flooding, erosion, and substantial mud/debris flows that resulted in the need for emergency protective measures including emergency repairs/detours.
Pursuant to Government Code section 8630(c), the Board shall review the need for continuing the local emergency at least once every 60 days until the Board terminates the local emergency. Approval of this recommendation would continue the local emergency for an additional period in accordance with Government Code section 8630(c).
