Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1 to Service Contract No. 4400021553 with Ziehm Imaging, Inc. for the maintenance of additional medical imaging surgical C-Arm equipment, increasing the total contract amount by $134,900 from $100,238 to $235,138, with no change to the contract term of December 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $$235,138 is funded by the State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2024-25 budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Amendment No. 1 to Service Contract No. 4400021553 (Contract) with Ziehm Imaging (Ziehm) will provide funding for the cost of maintenance of additional medical imaging C-Arm equipment used in ARMC’s Medical Imaging Department (Medical Imaging), specifically, for the maintenance of C-Arm equipment that is used in orthopedic surgery. The C-Arm is a medical imaging device that is based on X-ray technology, and due to its mobility, can be used flexibly in various Operating Rooms within the hospital. The name is derived from the C-shaped arm used to correct the X-ray source and X-ray detector to one another. Medical Imaging acquired this equipment in May of 2023 to be used in procedures performed by orthopedic surgeons.
On January 9, 2023, the Purchasing Agent executed the non-competitive Contract with Ziehm to provide maintenance services for medical imaging C-Arm equipment in the amount of $100,238 for the contract term of December 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025. With the additional funding of $134,900, the Contract exceeds the Purchasing Department’s authority of $200,000. As a result, the amendment is being presented to the Board of Supervisors for review.
ARMC recommends approval of the amendment to continue regular maintenance of the medical imaging equipment to ensure safe and efficient service to patients and to provide for the health and social services needs of county residents.
