RECOMMENDATION(S)

Recommendation

Approve a Non-Financial Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement with Surescripts, LLC, for a period of five years from May 19, 2020 through May 18, 2025 to allow for negotiations on the only interfacing non-controlled prescription system that works with Epic Systems.

(Presenter: William L. Gilbert, Director, 580-6150)

Body

COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of the non-financial agreement with Surescripts, LLC, (Surescripts) will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost), as the recommended agreement is non-financial in nature.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) currently has a contract for electronic prescribing with DrFirst.  DrFirst is currently used with Meditech which is the current Electronic Health Record system set to be replaced by Epic Systems. Surescripts is the only company that integrates with the new EHR System.  Surescripts electronic prescribing allows ARMC’s physicians to seamlessly send electronic prescriptions for all medications including controlled substances. It makes prescribing more efficient, advances patient medication adherence, and increases convenience for patients.

Upon the request of a price quote, Surescripts requested a mutual non-disclosure agreement including price quote and any materials received from the vendor. It was determined that moving forward with a five-year non-disclosure agreement would allow the maximum timeline flexibility available to account for receipt of quotes, conduct negations, and align with Epic roll-out.

PROCUREMENT
