Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Amendment No. 1 (Amendment) to Non-Financial Affiliation Agreement No. 21-863 (Agreement), with the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (Pomona Valley), is non-financial in nature.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On November 16, 2021 (Item No. 14), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved the Agreement with Pomona Valley, for Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Pulmonary Critical Care and Disease Medicine Fellows to obtain clinical experience in the rotation of pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, for the period of November 16, 2021, through November 15, 2026.
Approval of the Amendment with Pomona Valley will allow ARMC Pulmonary Critical Care and Disease Medicine Fellows to obtain clinical training in pulmonary/interventional pulmonology at Pomona Valley. The residency/fellowship programs have specific requirements that outline patient care metrics that resident physicians must meet. To meet these requirements, with respect to patient volume and type, it is necessary to provide educational opportunities at other facilities, as ARMC does not have enough pulmonary/interventional pulmonology cases to meet the fellowship graduation requirements.
ARMC recommends the approval of the Amendment with Pomona Valley as it provides for the safety, health and social needs of County residents by ensuring ARMC’s Fellow Physicians receive specialty clinical training and experience, resulting in the delivery of specialized medical care to ARMC patients.
This Amendment promotes the County’s goals and objectives by continuing to allow ARMC to work collaboratively with other facilities whose volume and patient mix provide comprehensive well-rounded education to ARMC’s Fellow Physicians.
PROCUREMENT
Not applicable.
