Body

COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Operate in a Fiscally-Responsible and Business-Like Manner.

Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $1,592,800 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2024-25 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Agreement with Pacific Coast Elevator dba Amtech Elevator Services (Amtech) will provide maintenance and unexpected repair services for elevators at ARMC. There are nineteen elevators on the ARMC campus, including the main hospital building, the outpatient clinic and the medical office building (MOB). The maintenance and unexpected repair service will help to ensure the proper operation of elevators for the safety of ARMC patients and staff, and ensure the elevators meet specific standards per State of California regulations.

ARMC recommends the approval of the Agreement with Amtech to provide for the safety and health of county residents through the provision of safe transport within the hospital for both patients and hospital staff.

PROCUREMENT

The Purchasing Department supports this competitive procurement. On July 23, 2024 (Item No. 42), the Board of Supervisors approved a contract with Amtech for it to provide maintenance and repair services for 30 county-owned facilities. The contracts were secured via Request for Proposal No. FMD124-FM-5282 that was conducted by the County’s Project and Facilities Management Department. ARMC was not included in those contracts. However, ARMC is seeking to utilize the contractor for the same services at the same costs.
