The race is hosted by the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF), a 501c(3) non-profit corporation, and is only open to personnel from the law enforcement, fire department and fire/paramedics community and its retired personnel.  The First Responders Relay is a nine-person 48-mile relay in Henderson, Nevada. The race will start and finish at the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa (Resort). This year’s relay will be held on October 19, 2024, making this the fourth year the Probation Department has participated in this event.

On September 22, 2023 (Item No. 43), the Board of Supervisors approved the First Responders Relay held on October 14, 2023. That year, the Probation Department team took home the third place trophy in the relay’s open division category. This year, Probation Department employees will be participating in the event as a running team and as volunteers to assist and provide support to those employees who are running.
