RECOMMENDATION(S)

Recommendation

1.                     Accept the donation of one 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe four-wheel drive vehicle (Vehicle Identification Number 1GNSKMKD8RR345125), with a total value of $111,146, from the City of Highland.

2.                     Authorize the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator, Undersheriff, or Assistant Sheriff to execute all necessary documentation to transfer title of the donated vehicle referenced in Recommendation No. 1, subject to review by County Counsel.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe four-wheel drive vehicle was purchased and upfitted by the City of Highland (Highland) for a total amount of $111,146. The vehicle was acquired using Highland’s Development Impact Fee funds. All ongoing costs associated with the donated vehicle, including fuel, registration, and maintenance, will be funded through the Schedule A Contract with Highland. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator’s (Department) 2025-26 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Department provides contracted law enforcement services to Highland. To continue supporting and enhancing these services, the Department is requesting approval to accept the donation of one 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe four-wheel drive vehicle, to be used by Department personnel to better support Highland’s public safety needs. The vehicle will be returned to Highland at the end of its useful life as specified in the donation letter, attached to this item for reference.

 

County Policy Standard Practice 06-01SP requires departments to obtain Board of Supervisors approval to accept any donation valued over $10,000.
