Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $41,200 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2023-24 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets as applicable.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Amendment No. 1 (Amendment) to Agreement No. 21-266 (Agreement) will allow ARMC to utilize Surescripts’, LLC (Surescripts) Pharmacy Routing Services which will allow ARMC providers to electronically submit electronic medication prescribing directly to ARMC’s pharmacy via the Epic system, ARMC’s electronic health record system. Previously, ARMC Providers utilized a different platform for this service. ARMC currently utilizes Surescripts for outbound electronic medication prescribing services, allowing ARMC Providers the ability to send electronic prescriptions to patient pharmacies.
On April 6, 2021 (Item No. 13), the Board of Supervisors approved the Agreement with Surescripts for electronic medication prescribing software compatible with the new electronic health record system, Epic, for use to external patient pharmacies, in the amount of $738,300, for a two-year period, from the execution date through June 30, 2023, automatically renewing annually thereafter.
ARMC recommends approval of the Amendment to continue providing for the safety, health, and social service needs of county residents.
PROCUREMENT
The Purchasing Department continues to support this non-competitive procurement based on functional specifications. Epic has a strategic alliance with Surescripts medication and e-prescribing technologies.
