FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $190,174.46 plus applicable taxes is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2025-26 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The agreement with Pure Processing, LLC (Agreement) will enable ARMC to make a one-time purchase of specialized sterile processing ergonomic workstations and accessories to support the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC). The new equipment is designed to improve workflow efficiency, reduce ergonomic risks for staff, and meet evolving regulatory standards.

The current SPD workstations are outdated and present safety and efficiency challenges. Acquisition of Pure Processing’s specialized ergonomic workstations will enhance compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), and Joint Commission standards. These improvements are expected to increase staff safety, reduce potential injury claims, and ensure timely support of surgical and clinical operations.

Pure Processing, LLC, established in 2010, is recognized as a leading vendor specializing in sterile processing ergonomic solutions. The workstations include proprietary features—such as an organizational pegboard wall, pull-out heat sealer shelf, additional task lighting, and peel pouch box/sleeve holder—that are not available from other manufacturers.

ARMC recommends approval of the Agreement as it will enable the hospital to provide for the safety, health and social services needs of County residents and operate in a fiscally-responsible and business-like manner.

PROCUREMENT

The Purchasing Department supports this non-competitive procurement based on the functional specifications. The workstations offer a unique combination of features that improve patient care and are not available from other vendors. The features include organizational pegboard wall, pull-out heat sealer shelf, additional lighting, and peel pouch box/sleeve holder.
