Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $184,209.22 plus applicable taxes is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2025-26 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Amendment No. 1 to Agreement 25-681 (Agreement) with Pure Processing, LLC (Pure) is an update to the types of specialized sterile processing ergonomic workstations and accessories that will be purchased and reduces the cost of $5,965.24 from $190,174.46 plus applicable taxes to $184,209.22 plus applicable taxes. The updated equipment list was revised, changing the quantity and equipment list to accommodate space availability. This purchase will enable ARMC to make a one-time purchase of specialized sterile processing ergonomic workstations and accessories to support the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) at ARMC. The new equipment is designed to improve workflow efficiency, reduce ergonomic risks for staff, and meet evolving regulatory standards.

On September 9, 2025 (Item No. 19), as the result of a non-competitive procurement, the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved the Agreement with Pure for the purchase of specialized sterile processing ergonomic workstations and accessories to enhance workforce efficiency and meet regulatory standards in healthcare in the amount of $190,174.46 plus applicable taxes.

The current SPD workstations are outdated and present safety and efficiency challenges. Acquisition of Pure’s specialized ergonomic workstations will enhance compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, and Joint Commission standards. These improvements are expected to increase staff safety, reduce potential injury claims, and ensure timely support of surgical and clinical operations.

ARMC recommends approval of the Amendment as it will enable the hospital to provide for the safety, health and social services needs of County residents and operate in a fiscally-responsible and business-like manner.
