FINANCIAL IMPACT
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is non-financial; therefore, it does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Under the terms of recommended MOU, the Transitional Assistance Department (TAD) will provide office space in the Rancho Cucamonga TAD office to one domestic abuse counselor from House of Ruth, Inc. House of Ruth, Inc. is a current contractor providing critical domestic abuse intervention and shelter services to victims of domestic abuse, and their children, throughout the County.
Some of services to be provided at the Rancho Cucamonga TAD office under this MOU include arranging temporary shelter for those who need to immediately vacate their homes for safety reasons; arranging outreach services, which may include domestic abuse awareness; education, and life skills classes; and providing referrals to existing services in the community, such as medical care, legal assistance, and Welfare-to-Work activities, to enable the customer to obtain unsubsidized employment as they move toward self-sufficiency.
House of Ruth, Inc. had an onsite counselor at the Rancho Cucamonga office prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and would like to re-establish the prior collaboration. This MOU will allow the contractor to offer needed services, while TAD customers are in the Rancho Cucamonga office. House of Ruth, Inc. is one of seven County contractors who currently provide domestic abuse intervention and shelter services to California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids customers.
