BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The DPH Mosquito and Vector Control Program provides a wide range of control and abatement services throughout the county, in an effort to prevent and minimize public exposure to disease from mosquitos, or other animals/insects capable of spreading disease to humans. This includes diseases such as West Nile Virus, Encephalitis, Dengue, Malaria, and Zika.
Under the terms of each contract, DPH will respond to routine service requests, inspect potential vector and breeding places, and take action to mitigate risk to the public which includes surveying, trapping, identifying, and testing vectors who have the potential to transmit disease. DPH will provide pesticides, application tools and equipment, staffing, and other supplies necessary to provide the contracted surveillance and abatement services.
DPH has provided vector control services for the City of Big Bear since 2010. This is the first contract with the Town of Yucca Valley.
