RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Authorize the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector to post the necessary budget adjustments to the Land Use Services Department’s Code Enforcement Division’s 2025-26 budget, as detailed in the Financial Impact Section (Four votes required).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). If approved, this item authorizes $1,000,000 in estimated salary savings in the Land Use Services Department’s (LUS) Code Enforcement Division to support $400,000 in increased Fire Hazard Abatement program abatement efforts, $300,000 in increased professional services, and $300,000 in increased vehicle charges.
This item authorizes the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector to post the following adjustments to the LUS Code Enforcement Division’s budget for 2025-26:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The LUS Code Enforcement Division administers programs designed to protect the public's safety, welfare, and property value through enforcement of federal law, state law, and County ordinances.
The recommendation would transfer $1,000,000 in estimated salary savings to support higher than anticipated contract costs in the Fire Hazard Abatement program ($400,000), one-time increased costs professional services for the abatement of land use-related nuisances ($300,000), and increased vehicle charges ($300,000).
