FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as Amendment No. 1 (Amendment) and underlying Affiliation Agreement with Total Longterm Care Inc. DBA InnovAge California PACE - Inland Empire (InnovAge) is non-financial in nature.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Amendment with InnovAge will enable Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) neurology resident physicians to obtain specialized clinical training in psychiatry/memory and behavioral disorders at InnovAge. The volume and patient mix at InnovAge will provide a suitable educational opportunity to the ARMC resident physicians. The accreditation bodies for medical residency programs have specific requirements as to the numbers and types of patients to whom a resident physician must provide care in order to complete the residency program and become eligible for board certification. In order to meet these requirements, it is customary for hospitals that operate residency programs to provide their residents with educational opportunities at other facilities to supplement those available at their sponsoring hospital. As a teaching hospital, ARMC has a number of agreements with other hospitals to provide on-site clinical training for its residents.
On August 22, 2023 (Item No. 10), the Board of Supervisors approved a non-financial Affiliation Agreement with InnovAge for ARMC psychiatry resident physicians to obtain specialized clinical training in geriatrics at InnovAge for the period of August 22, 2023 through August 21, 2028.
ARMC recommends approval of this Amendment to provide clinical training and experience to ARMC’s neurology resident physicians, which will result in the provision of specialized medical care to County residents.
PROCUREMENT
Not applicable.
