BACKGROUND INFORMATION

SBCFPD’s Management Information Systems (MIS) team is tasked with providing Information Technology (IT) service and technology support to SBCFPD.

On December 7, 2021 (Item No. 80), the Board of Directors (Board) approved a lease agreement with Inland Valley Development Agency for SBCFPD’s new headquarters facility in the City of San Bernardino.  SBCFPD’s MIS team is working with San Bernardino County’s (County) Information and Technology Department (ITD) on all network services needed for SBCFPD’s new facility to ensure SBCFPD’s IT systems will align with the County’s enterprise communications infrastructure.  SBCFPD is requesting approval to purchase 10 additional slot switches needed to outfit SBCFPD’s IT infrastructure for the new headquarters facility.  Slot switches allow SBCFPD computers to connect via hardwire to the network.  The slot switches will allow SBCFPD staff to have access to the internet and will provide network access for sharing resources throughout the department.

Approval of the recommended actions will enable SBCFPD to purchase the unbudgeted fixed assets to ensure SBCFPD’s new headquarters are equipped with the appropriate IT resources.

PROCUREMENT

The slot switches will be purchased pursuant to a contract approved by the Purchasing Department with ConvergeOne, Inc., based on the competitive procurement and participating contract issued by the State of California (Contract No. 7-20-70-47-01).
