Body

COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $900,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s (ARMC) 2024-25 budget and will be included in 2025-26 recommended budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Approval Amendment No. 1 (Amendment) with Mentor Worldwide LLC (Mentor) will allow ARMC to continue to purchase mammary products used in breast augmentation and breast reconstruction procedures. The products are utilized for ARMC procedures such as reconstruction after mastectomy, scar revision, and tissue defect procedures.

On May 24, 2022 (Item No. 17), as the result of a non-competitive procurement, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract No. 22-355 with Mentor for mammary products in the not-to-exceed amount of $900,000, for the period from May 24, 2022 through May 23, 2025.

ARMC recommends approval of this Amendment to provide for the health and safety of county residents by ensuring the hospital has access to necessary mammary products for use in patient care.
