Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $350,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2025-26 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Amendment No. 1 (Amendment) to Agreement No. 23-02 (Agreement) will enable ARMC to purchase additional specialized devices from Inari Medical, Inc. (Inari), for the treatment of pulmonary embolisms (PE) and extend the term of the Agreement for an additional two years.
Inari has added products and is offering the ClotTriever® Thrombectomy and LimFlow Systems. The ClotTriever Thrombectomy System is a mechanical thrombectomy device specifically designed for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), while the LimFlow System is designed to divert blood around diseased arteries in the leg and veins in the foot, bringing blood and oxygen to immediately relieve pain and promote healing of chronic wounds, improving quality of life. The products associated with these systems will provide ARMC with cutting-edge innovations and service capability to further improve patient outcomes. Treatment may be completed in a single session, eliminating the need for thrombolytics and Intensive Care Unit stays.
On January 10, 2023 (Item No. 8), as the result of a non-competitive procurement, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement No. 23-02 with Inari for the purchase of medical devices for the treatment of pulmonary embolisms in the not-to-exceed amount of $792,000 for the period of January 10, 2023 through January 9, 2026.
ARMC recommends approval of this Amendment to add Inari devices and to extend the term of the Agreement to provide for the safety and health needs of County residents for treatment in the removal of PE. This will provide expanded and efficient care and safe treatment for patients throughout San Bernardino County.
