The 2025-26 allocation in the amount of $427,221 from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for Immunization Local Assistance funding does not require a local match. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Department of Public Health's (DPH) 2025-26 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
DPH receives Immunization Local Assistance funding to improve immunization coverage rates and reduce illness, disability, and death due to vaccine preventable diseases. DPH activities include prevention, surveillance, quality assurance, vaccine related education for the community and providers, and outbreak control for vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, pertussis, meningococcal disease, hepatitis, and varicella.
On January 4, 2023, the County Administrative Office authorized the submission of a grant application to CDPH for Immunization Local Assistance funding, in the amount of $13,418,586, for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2027.
On May 9, 2023 (Item No. 36), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Agreement No. 23-336 (Agreement) from CDPH for Immunization Local Assistance funding, in the amount of $13,418,586, for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2027. The Agreement provided funding in the amounts of $10,905,521 for COVID-19 related activities, and $2,513,065 for countywide immunization services.
On July 31, 2025, DPH received from CDPH Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement, an allocation notice decreasing the anticipated 2025-26 funding by $75,392, from $502,613 to $427,221, with the total agreement amount decreasing from $13,418,586 to $13,343,194, and no change to the total grant performance period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2027. The reduction in funding will be absorbed through salary savings and will not impact DPH’s immunization services or activities.
This item is being presented at this time, as this is the first date available for presentation following the required operational, fiscal, and legal reviews. Approval at this time will not impact DPH’s immunization services or activities.
