BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Under the terms of the recommended agreement, the Department of Public Health (DPH) will provide medical residents in the Preventive Medicine Residency Program of Loma Linda University Health Education Consortium (LLUH) the opportunity to train at various DPH Clinic and Health Center Sites. This collaborative effort will allow medical residents to gain valuable experience in a variety of public health sectors, including environmental health, disease control, maternal and child health, clinical health and prevention services. This program will help resident physicians receive the skills they need to prosper in the 21st century economy, which aligns with the San Bernardino Countywide Vision2Succeed initiative.
For nearly 28 years, DPH has partnered and contracted with LLUH for the services provided by resident physicians who are training in public health and preventive medicine. LLUH has the only university sponsored residency program in preventive medicine/public health/occupational health in San Bernardino County. The goals and objectives of the program allows resident physicians the opportunity to improve their skills with patient care in the management of infectious diseases of public health importance and improve interpersonal and communication skills with the public to effectively convey challenges, duties, and understanding of important practical health information.
