Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $45,743 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2023-24 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The recommended amendment with Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP) will allow ARMC to continue to obtain preventative maintenance for two Sterrad Sterilizers. The sterilizers use low-temperature, hydrogen peroxide gas plasma technology to sanitize a wide range of instruments efficiently and effectively. ARMC’s Sterile Processing Department manages and operates the sterilizers to clean and return the equipment to the operating rooms and other departments for patient care. This amendment will also terminate the service under this agreement for one of the Sterrad Sterilizers that is no longer in use by ARMC. Preventative maintenance includes service and support Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm; two planned maintenance calls, including parts, labor and travel; and one planned maintenance call for sterilizers.
On November 16, 2021 (Item No. 11), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Agreement No. 21-861 with ASP in the amount of $40,546, for preventative maintenance service of Sterrad Sterilizers, for the period of December 15, 2021 through December 14, 2022.
On December 13, 2022 (Item No. 9), the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 21-861 with ASP to increase the agreement by $40,546, for a total agreement amount of $81,092, and to extend the term by one year through December 14, 2023.
ARMC recommends approval of Amendment No. 2 to extend the terms of the agreement by two years, for services performed by ASP to ensure the Sterile Processing Department has proper functioning and sterilized equipment for use in medical procedures.
PROCUREMENT
The Purchasing Department continues to support this non-competitive procurement as only ASP’s technicians, who are credentialed by the manufacturer of the Sterrad Sterilizers, are authorized to perform maintenance and service on these sterilizers.
