RECOMMENDATION(S)

Recommendation

1.                     Terminate Employment Contract No. 21-768 with Glen Harris effective March 23, 2024 (Four votes required).

2.                     Approve Employment Contract with Glen Harris to provide support services to the Third District as a Field Representative I, effective March 23, 2024, for an estimated annual cost of $49,885 (Salary - $35,622 Benefits - $ 14,263).

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this employment contract will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation exists within the Third District’s 2023-24 budget to fund the costs related to this employment contract and will be included in future recommended budgets.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Staff services to members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are provided through contractual arrangement, as required by the County Charter.

 

On October 26, 2021 (Item No. 4), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Employment Contract No. 21-768 to engage Glen Harris as a Community Services Liaison. Recommendation No. 1 will terminate the existing Employment Contract No. 21-768 and requires four votes per the County Charter and the termination provisions within this contract. 

 

Recommendation No. 2 will initiate a new employment contract to engage Mr. Harris as a Field Representative I retroactively effective March 23, 2024, to align with the start of the new pay period.

 

Either party may terminate these contracts at any time without cause with a 14-day prior written notice to the other party. The contracts may be terminated for just cause immediately by the County.
