BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The ordinance amending Section 33.1017 of Title 3, Division 3, Chapter 10, Article 1.5 of the San Bernardino County Code relating to grounds for eviction under the Crime Free Housing Program (Program), was introduced on August 22, 2023, Item No. 94.  The recommendation before the Board of Supervisors today will adopt the ordinance on the Consent Calendar.

 

The proposed ordinance modifies the eviction authority of a landlord under the Program to those instances where a tenant has been convicted of specified offenses based upon conduct that occurred at or near the property, while the individual was a tenant.  The conviction must be related to a gang-related offense, a crime committed with a firearm or other deadly weapon, a crime involving great bodily injury to the victim, or a crime that involved illegal drug activity.
