Recommendation
Approve the partial assignment and consent of Agreement No. 20-70, retroactively effective March 2, 2021, for health information management transcription services, removing the stated service from Agreement No. 20-70 with Nuance Communications, Inc., and assigning it to DeliverHealth Solutions LLC, with no other changes to the contract terms or contract period of February 21, 2020 through February 20, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as it only approves and consents to the partial assignment of the existing agreement.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On February 11, 2020, (Item No. 19), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Agreement No. 20-70 with Nuance Communications, Inc. (Nuance) for clinical medical dictation services via voice recognition software and health information management transcription services. On March 2, 2021, DeliverHealth Solutions LLC (DeliverHealth) purchased the health information management transcription service business division from Nuance, which resulted in Nuance transferring its accounts to DeliverHealth.
Approval of the recommended item will have no effect on the clinical medical dictation services via voice recognition software, which are utilized daily by practitioners throughout Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) inpatient and outpatient settings for documentation of patient encounters into the patients’ medical records. Nuance will continue to provide the foregoing services.
Approval of the recommended item will assign the health information transcription service component of Agreement No. 20-70 to DeliverHealth, retroactively effective as of March 2, 2021. The assigned component is a secondary option at ARMC that provides medical dictation/transcription services as a backup during downtimes of the voice recognition software, provided by Nuance.
