Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the cost of $2,750,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2024-25 budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Amendment with Alcon Vision, LLC (Alcon) will extend the term of the existing Product Pricing Agreement for an additional three months to enable ARMC to continue to purchase surgical products from Alcon while the parties complete negotiations, which began in September 2024, for a new agreement.
On January 28, 2020 (Item No. 8), as the result of a non-competitive procurement, the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Contract No. 20-28 with Alcon for custom surgical packs and intraocular lenses, in the amount of $2,750,000, effective January 28, 2020 through January 27, 2025.
On August 6, 2024 (Item No. 6), the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 20-28 to update the product list for purchase, with no change to the contract term of January 28, 2020 through January 27, 2025, or contract amount of $2,750,000.
ARMC recommends the approval of the Amendment with Alcon to enable the continued purchase of the products necessary for ARMC surgeons to perform cataract and retinal surgeries and provide for the safety, health, and social service needs of county residents.
PROCUREMENT
