RECOMMENDATION(S)

Recommendation

1.                     Accept donation of one 2022 Chevrolet Bolt (Vehicle Identification No. 1G1FW6S0XN4124598) with a total value of $32,678.55 from the City of Chino Hills.

2.                     Authorize the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator, Undersheriff, or Assistant Sheriff to execute all necessary documentation to transfer title of the donated vehicle referenced in Recommendation No. 1, subject to review by County Counsel.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt vehicle (vehicle) was purchased by the City of Chino Hills (Chino Hills) in the total amount of $32,678.55. All costs associated with the donated vehicle including insurance and maintenance, will be funded through the law enforcement services contract with Chino Hills. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator’s (Department) 2022-23 budget.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Department provides law enforcement services to Chino Hills on a contractual basis that is renewed annually. The Department is requesting approval to accept the donation of the vehicle to be used by the Citizen Patrol Unit volunteer staff assigned to Chino Hills’ patrol station during the course and scope of their duties within Chino Hills, as well as in times of disasters and emergencies. At the end of its useful life, the vehicle will be returned to Chino Hills for disposal.

 

County Policy Standard Practice 06-01SP requires departments to obtain Board of Supervisor approval of any donation valued over $10,000.
