FINANCIAL IMPACT

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Agreement with Concorde will provide clinical onsite training for Concorde’s Cardiovascular Sonography students at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC). This training will consist of clinical observation and assisting ARMC staff in performance of imaging studies, such as sonograms, in the Medical Imaging Department. Student rotations last for approximately four to six weeks.
As a teaching hospital, ARMC has a number of agreements with educational institutions to provide onsite training for students. Clinical training is necessary for students to obtain their degrees, licenses, and/or certifications.
The volume and diversity of ARMC patients provide a comprehensive educational opportunity to Cardiovascular Sonography students from Concorde, which is a fully accredited educational institution. Concorde and ARMC will mutually determine the number of students that will receive training. The Agreement ensures the students receive specialty onsite training and experience from ARMC and gain vital skills needed in developing a competent workforce. As a teaching hospital, ARMC expects to attract students to the region, increasing the potential pool of future healthcare providers.
ARMC recommends approval of this Agreement to provide clinical training and experience to Concorde students, which will result in the delivery of medical care to County residents.
